The SED Certificate of Completion is one of the graduation requirements for all doctoral candidates. University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa is a strong participant in helping the Survey of Earned Doctorates collect data for their annual census which tracks all research doctoral recipients in the United States. The survey conducted is used for the National Science Foundation and other agencies such as: National Institutes of Health, U.S. Department of Education, U.S. Department of Agriculture, National Endowment for the Humanities, and National Aeronautics and Space Administration. The survey results are then used by the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa when making decisions about funding, supporting, and/or creating new graduate programs.
