- August 30 (by 4 p.m) – Deadline to register for a course, change course grading mode and variable credit and drop a course for 100% tuition refund

Want to build a strong connection with the university and island of Oʻahu? Then consider joining our Ānuenue Connection Program (ACP) ʻohana! ACP will match you with a mentor with whom you can meet informally, ask questions, and explore the UH Mānoa campus and island of Oʻahu together. All ACP mentors are either current faculty/staff, UH Mānoa alumni, or both. Sign up by 4pm on Wednesday, August 24. More details will be sent to you on Thursday, September 1.

The UH Mānoa Children’s Center has part-time work available for students who want to work on campus for a couple hours during the day. They especially need students available between noon and 3 PM, but also have other morning and afternoon times available. Please find them on the SECE (student employment) website, and search for job #3445.

Fellowships, Scholarships, & Internships
|
|
|
Apply for this five-year fellowship that supports graduate students in science, technology, engineering, and math. Funding is provided for three of the fellowship years totaling over $100,000. Application deadlines vary by discipline and range between October 17–21, 2022. The Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowships for New Americans honors the contributions of immigrants and their children to the United States. Each year, this highly competitive fellowship awards 30 students who are supported in their graduate education experience and receive financial support up to $90,000 for two years. Deadline to apply for the 2023 competition is October 27, 2022.

The Mirzayan Fellowship offers full-time hands-on training and education at the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine. Fellows receive $11,000 while learning about science and technology policy, the role scientists and engineers play in advising the nation, and gaining essential skills/knowledge for science policy work at any level. The program runs March 6–May 23, 2023. Applicants should be in the final years of their PhD program or graduated within the last five years. Applications are due October 31, 2022.

The Department of Defense’s (DoD) Science, Mathematics, and Research for Transformation (SMART) Scholarship provides educational and career support to students in STEM who are pursuing a bachelor’s master’s, or PhD and will further DoD’s mission. Benefits include tuition, annual stipend ranging between $25,000 to $38,000, internships, mentorship from sponsoring facilities, and employment at a DoD facility upon graduation. Application deadline is December 1, 2022. Register to learn more at an upcoming webinar on August 31st, 1:00 pm EST.
