The first use of the term “Registrar” at the University of Hawai’i at Manoa was found in the University of Hawai’i 1923 Quarterly Bulletin, Volume II, Number 4.
Helen Bosson MacNeil served as the University’s first registrar from 1922 (as secretary to the president from 1922-1924) until her retirement in 1956. In addition, she was a member of the faculty, served as one of the administrative officers of the University, and secretary of the faculty council until her retirement.
