Course Overrides

Course Approval Override Codes

Students who wish to enroll in restricted courses must obtain approval from the respective school or college, department, program, or instructor. Registration error messages will inform students of restrictions which may prevent them from enrolling in a course, such as if the course section requires instructor approval.

Faculty may assign overrides using MyUH Services.  An authorized representative may also assign overrides using Banner.

For descriptions of UH Mānoa course restrictions, visit Registration Errors & Overrides.

Enter UH Mānoa Overrides

Faculty may only enter an override code for courses in which they are listed as the primary instructor.  To assign a course override via MyUH Services, the student must provide you with his or her UH Number or UH Username.  You must only select override codes that are designated for UH Mānoa by choosing codes that begin with “Mānoa.”

Assigning an override grants permission for the student to register for a course.  It does NOT register the student into the course.  Please note that after you assign an override, the student may choose to not register for the course.

  • Log in to MyUH Services
  • Review the Faculty Services menu
  • Select Registration Overrides
  • Select the appropriate term
  • For Student ID, enter the student’s UH Number (8 digits) or UH Username
  • Select Mānoa Override Codes
  • Select the Course Section
  • Submit Changes
  • Scroll to the bottom of the page for the ID Selection to enter an override code for the next student

Frequently Asked Questions

  • You may have entered the wrong override code. You must select the appropriate override code that begins with “Mānoa.”
  • MyUH allows overrides to be assigned to anyone with a general student record. The student may need to verify if they are currently eligible to register at UH Mānoa by contacting the Office of the Registrar.

  • Log in to MyUH Services
  • Review the Faculty Services menu
  • Select ID Selection to select a student

Advise the student to contact the Office of the Registrar about his or her student status.

  • Since you do not know which student will register first, assign the Mānoa Closed Class Override (B-CLOSED) approval code to both students.
  • The Mānoa Closed Class override should only be entered starting from the first day of the semester and after the waitlist period has ended.

Unfortunately, MyUH does not allow faculty to remove overrides. Contact your departmental personnel to remove the override code.
