Health Clearance Requirements

The University of Hawaiʻi has partnered with Med+Proctor, a free service that handles all of the Immunization Verification processes for the University. All students must submit Health Clearances through Med+Proctor for processing and verification.

**John Burns School of Medicine (JABSOM) students must follow the University Health Partners of Hawaiʻi website guidelines or contact JABSOMMR@UCERA.ORG for further assistance.

What Health Clearances Are Required?

The Hawaiʻi Administrative Rules, Chapter 11-157, requires all students to meet immunization requirements before they attend any post-secondary school in the state.

  1. Tuberculosis (TB) Clearance
  2. Immunizations:
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR)
    • Tetanus-diphtheria-pertussis (Tdap)
    • Varicella (chickenpox)
    • Meningococcal Conjugate (MCV)**

**MCV is only required for students (age 21 or younger) who will be living in on-campus housing for the first time. This requirement does not affect registration. For questions regarding the MCV requirement for housing purposes, please contact Student Housing Services.

When are Health Clearances Due?

In order to register for in-person courses, students must have all health clearance records completed and verified in Med+Proctor before registering. The assigned registration time ticket may differ for each student. Students may view their assigned registration time ticket in STAR GPS or the UH Manoa Registration Timetable

Students that do not have the required health clearances when they begin registering will only be able to register for online-only courses (Online-Sync or Online-Async). Once all health clearance requirements have been processed and verified in Med+Proctor, they will then be able to register for in-person/hybrid classes. Failure to complete the required health clearances before the start of the semester may result in the disenrollment of in-person/hybrid courses.

F-1 and J-1 Visa International Students Only:

New incoming F-1/J-1 international and international exchange students are provided an extended deadline to submit their health clearances and are able to register for in-person and hybrid classes. Students may view their assigned registration time ticket in STAR GPS or the UH Manoa Registration Timetable Failure to complete the required health clearances before the start of the semester may result in the disenrollment of in-person/hybrid courses.
