Fukuoka Youth Visit UH Manoa One Health Program

A group of 15 high school students from Fukuoka Prefecture visited JABSOM on December 4, 2023 to learn about the UH Manoa One Health program which explores the interconnections between human, animal, plant and environmental health in Hawai‘i. These youth were selected from a large pool of applicants to participate in the 2023 Fukuoka Youth Development Program that offers a 8-day internship in Hawaii to participate in various educational and cultural activities. During their visit, students learned about issues in One Health shared by Japan and Hawaii, toured the JABSOM campus, and met with Tropical Medicine graduate students in small groups to discuss their career goals and interests. Their visit was sponsored by the Fukuoka Prefectural Government and represents the partnership between Fukuoka and the University of Hawaii to cooperate in the promotion of One Health research and education.
