The UH Contemporary Music Ensemble is devoted to the composers and music of our time. Led by director Thomas Osborne, the UH CME has given the premieres of countless works written by established, internationally-recognized composers and by up-and-coming student composers. The ensemble's concerts are eclectic, owing to the unique makeup of the group, which often includes a mix of Western and non-Western instruments.

Recent highlights of the ensemble include a concert of live music with film, a bowed piano ensemble concert, a performance at the Honolulu Contemporary Museum, portrait concerts featuring music by Steve Reich and George Crumb, and a number of concerts highlighting music by Hawaii composers.
