This course is designed to provide first-hand experience with the sound and movement systems of French Polynesia. Underscoring the concept of the dancer as singer, students will learn Tahitian dance-songs, Tahitian approaches to part-singing, and the fundamentals of ‘ori tahiti in addition to the study of representative music and dance genres, such as Ote‘a and ‘aparima.
