FULL-Lyon Nature Camp: Spring 2022

Announcements

COVID-19 Safety Notice

Aloha! This page contains information about Lyon’s Nature Camp for Spring Break 2022.

At the time of writing, Lyon Arboretum is planning to host a Spring Break Camp for 2022, but of course, the pandemic introduces a significant amount of uncertainty in any scheduling attempt. Hosting of Lyon’s Nature Camp in the fall will depend the state’s COVID19 numbers and any future orders from relevant state and federal bodies. In short, this is an acknowledgment of the possibility that, in spite of our hopes and good intentions, we may have to cancel fall camp on short notice.

You can consider your registration for camp a kind of “reservation” for your camper(s). If Lyon has to cancel camp, any and all camp fees will be fully refunded. Families that choose to withdraw their campers before camp begins will also be able to receive a refund minus a $100 deposit. Families that choose to withdraw their campers during the camp period will not. Mahalo for your understanding.

Lyon has hosted several camp sessions since the pandemic began, and we will continue to employ the modifications we have developed. Camp size is limited to no more than 10 campers. All our department staff have been fully vaccinated. All campers and instructors will be expected to wear their masks, indoors and outdoors. Masks must comply with CDC and UH guidelines. Temperature checks will be performed at the beginning of each day. Lunch and snack will be enjoyed outdoors.

If you have any further questions about COVID19 as it pertains to our camp, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us at educationlyonarboretum@gmail.com. We hope that together we can have a safe and fun week together in beautiful Manoa Valley! Mahalo nui loa!

Lyon Nature Camp: Spring Break 2022

The Lyon Arboretum Education Department would like to invite your children to join us for a week of learning, exploring, and creating in the Mānoa rainforest!

Camp will feature outdoor exploration, science investigations, and behind-the-scenes tours at Lyon. Camp participants will do activities including, but not limited to, informal science, hiking the grounds, nature-based arts & craft projects, and kokua within our Children’s Garden. The experience takes full advantage of Lyon’s vast plant collection, conservation efforts, and other features that are unique only to Lyon Arboretum.

We hope that the experiences your child has at Nature Camp help to foster a positive relationship with the environment and foster the idea of themselves as land stewards. It promises to be a time of fun-filled learning that your child will always remember!
