Many nonprofit and private organizations offer scholarships to help students pay for college. Scholarships are awarded based on a variety of factors such as academic achievement, athletic ability, leadership, field of study and/or financial need. It is a type of free money and does not need to be repaid.

UH MĀNOA SCHOLARSHIPS
Office of Admissions Scholarships
The Office of Admissions at UH Manoa is proud to award merit-based scholarships to eligible applicants. Click on the links below to learn more.
- Academic Merit Scholarships: These scholarships are designed to recognize the academic strengths of admitted students. There is no separate application for students to be considered for these scholarships.
- New Warrior Scholarships: These are higher-tier, selective scholarship awards to recognize and celebrate the academic strengths and demonstrated community impacts of admitted students. To be considered for these scholarships, students must submit supplemental materials in addition to their admission application.
- Upper-level Scholarships: These are selective scholarship awards for students who are in their upper-level undergraduate years. To be considered for these scholarships, students must submit supplemental materials in addition to their admission application.
Financial Aid Services Scholarships
The Financial Aid Services Office administers several scholarships. You are encouraged to complete your FAFSA by the February 1 deadline. Some scholarships require a separate application and students will be notified via email when this is available.
Kua’ana Tuition Waiver
Kuaʻana Native Hawaiian Student Development Services provides need-based tuition waivers for undergraduate, and classified graduate Native Hawaiian students.
STAR Scholarships
STAR helps students find scholarships they are best eligible for and facilitate the application process online. Mānoa academic departments select the candidates that receive the scholarships.
Departmental Scholarships
Academic departments may have scholarship opportunities available to students. We encourage you to connect with your academic advisor to learn of possible scholarship opportunities.
International Scholarships
The International Student Services Office administers several scholarships for international students.
UH SYSTEM SCHOLARSHIPS
UH System Scholarships
The University of Hawaii System offers a Common Scholarship Application. A large portion of the scholarships available through this application are funded by UH Foundation donors. However, there are other small system and campus scholarships that utilize this application. Students are encouraged to apply annually.

NATIONAL SCHOLARSHIPS
Students are encouraged to check companies which have made offers by contacting the Better Business Bureau to verify its reputation and if complaints have been made. Students should never pay for help to find scholarship monies for college. Please also see the Office of Inspector General for more information on scholarship scams. To report any case of scholarship fraud, contact the Federal Trade Commission or call 1-877-382-4357.
