Admissions Requirements
Upper Division Program (Transfer student or continuing UHM student with Junior standing): must have a cumulative college G.P.A. of 3.5 or higher. Our ideal students have been involved in a range of extra and co-curricular activities throughout their education, including leadership roles, volunteering, employment, international exchanges, and more. Many of our students take AP or other college level courses during high school. If you feel you meet these requirements you are encouraged to apply to our Honors Program. If you have any questions about this please schedule a “Prospective Student” appointment with Honors Program Director, Dr. Shana J. Brown.
You qualify as an Upper Division student if you have 43 or more college credits and have at least 3 semesters remaining at UHM.
When to apply
If you are entering UHM in Spring you should apply by November 1
If you are entering UHM in Fall you should apply by June 15
When you complete your Honors Program application via Honors Mākālei you will submit:
- Online Application
- Recommendation Form (completed by an academic reference)
- Departmental Approval Form
Once the above are received, please schedule an interview appointment with an Honors Faculty/Advisor to “talk story” regarding your application.
