Yay! You’re almost ready to submit your project! Use the information on the page to submit your project correctly and with minimal difficulty.
Basic Steps
- Make sure your project has all required sections
- Format and paginate your project correctly
- Save it as a .pdf and give it the correct file name
- Upload it to the Honors Mākālei Portal
Order of Sections in Thesis or Portfolio
Please see the Formatting Guide below for templates and specific examples of sections.
- Cover page. Center aligned, no page number.
- Acknowledgements. Thank your mentor and committee member(s) individually. Paginated using lower-case Roman numerals (i, ii, iii, iv, etc.).
- Abstract or keywords: A short summary of your project with a maximum 250 words. Include two to three keywords at the bottom of the page in bold. Paginate in lower-case Roman numerals.
- Table of contents
- If needed: List of Tables and/or Figures. Include the titles of figures and page numbers where they are located in your thesis. Paginate using lower-case Roman numerals.
- Main body of text, which can be divided into chapters or sections, as appropriate to your discipline. Students should check with their Faculty Mentor for further direction on this. Paginate with Arabic numbers (1, 2, 3, etc.).
- If needed: Appendices or figures, if not included in main body of text. Paginate with Arabic numbers.
- If needed: Glossary of special terms. Paginate with Arabic numbers.
- Works Cited / Bibliography. Paginate with Arabic numbers.
Formatting
- Citations: Follow the established style manual in your discipline, which may be one of the main styles (Chicago, APA, etc.) or one appropriate to your discipline.
- All pages single sided
- 1-inch margins on all sides of page
- 12-point font
- All pages double spaced (single-spaced for any block quotations)
- All pages numbered, except for special pages (cover page, etc.)
Save and Upload to Mākālei Portal
If you are completing a research thesis, it must be submitted as a .pdf file.
Creative projects and portfolios may be submitted as a link to a website or google drive. You may want to create .pdf versions of these materials if possible to make sure they are accessible to all faculty reviewers.
Save your file using a title in this format: LASTNAME_FIRSTNAME_SENIORPROJECT.pdf. Example: ROOSEVELT_ELEANOR_SENIORPROJECT.pdf
Upload the file to the Mākālei Portal.
