Mānoa Opportunities
Leadership Opportunities in Student Media
The Student Media Board (SMB), is recruiting for leadership positions in Ka Leo, UH Productions, Hawaiʻi Review and KTUH for the 2023–24 academic year. Applicants must be available for a minimum of two (2) hours per day and a minimum of twenty (20) hours per week and must be able to demonstrate leadership with program-related content and function. This is your chance to learn how media programs operate from the inside. Develop your organizational and management skills as you learn to navigate the interests of students and the needs of the campus. These skills are particularly applicable in Social Sciences. Become a leader, build up your resume with practical experience and make an impact in your UH community. Priority Deadline to apply is Thursday, April 13. General Education (Diversification) Student Focus Groups
The current General Education program has been in place since 2000, and we are currently in the process of revisiting the program to ensure that it is imparting the knowledge, skills, and values that align with the mission of the University and with current national trends. Join a student-led focus group and participate in a 1-hour discussion about General Education at Mānoa between April 18 and 22. Sign up to eat free food, meet new people, share your ideas and opinions, and make a difference!
Research, Teach, or Study Abroad
If you’re interested in pursuing a graduate degree, researching, or teaching English abroad while building relations among nations, apply for the Fulbright U.S. Student Program! Applications for 2024–2025 are now open! Join the U.S. government’s flagship international academic exchange program. Register to attend UH Mānoa’s virtual session on April 18th, 1:00 – 2:15 pm. UH Mānoa applicants must submit all materials by September 10, 2023. Campus interviews will then be scheduled before the national deadline.
Entering Research & Creative Work (ERC) Funding for Undergraduate Students ($1,500–$3,000)
The Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP) coordinates and promotes research and creative work opportunities for UH MĀNOA undergraduate students in all disciplines. ERC funding is intended for students early in their academic careers, with little to no research or creative work experience, to get introduced to and explore research and creative work with a faculty mentor. UROP provides up to $1500 per semester and up to $3000 for two consecutive semesters. The Spring 2023 application deadline is 5:00 PM, April 20th. Peter J. Rappa Resilient and Sustainable Coasts Fellowship
Rappa Fellows engage in projects focusing on natural, social, and built environments in Hawaiʻi and how to better manage issues affecting coastal community livability, sustainability and resilience. Fellows further their knowledge/understanding of sustainable coastal communities through research, extension, and community-based education. Fellows receive $6,200 for 8 weeks during summer 2023. Full-time undergraduate and graduate students may apply by April 21, 2023, 5:00 pm HST. Register for a virtual info session on April 14th at 12:00 noon to learn more.

Are you looking for student housing this fall? Be the first to live in RISE, a new privately-managed, on-campus student housing facility located at University Ave. and Metcalf St. Open to ALL MAJORS, RISE presents a new way for makers and doers to connect, collaborate, and innovate within an integrated living/learning community managed by PACE. The complex offers in-unit AC, outdoor deck with BBQ grills, secure key fob entry, bike and surfboard storage, a recording studio, makerspaces, meeting rooms and coworking spaces. Presentation Funding for Undergraduate Students ($2000–$5000)
The Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP) coordinates and promotes research and creative work opportunities for UH MĀNOA undergraduate students in all disciplines. UROP invites students who are conducting or have conducted faculty-mentored research or creative work to submit a proposal for Presentation Funding, which provides funds to present their project or work at a local, national, or international conference/event, either in-person or virtually. UROP strongly encourages interested students to apply three months prior to the event. Register to attend information sessions to learn more and learn about other opportunities offered by UROP!
