Commencement Student Speaker Auditions

The 2023 Annual Commencement Exercise will include an address to the graduating class by a Spring 2023 candidate. The deadline to sign up to audition is Wednesday, March 29th via the Student Speaker Google Form. A copy of your speech is due to graduate@hawaii.edu by Thursday, March 30th at 11:59 p.m. The audition will take place on Friday, March 31, 2023 at 4:30 p.m. in Crawford Hall 105.

Recruiting Student Participants for Economic Experiments

Researchers study economic decision-making in a computer lab on campus or online. Earn money just for showing up on time, then earn more based on your decisions during the experiment! Participants make individual or group choices, which determine their payoffs. These experiments are fun and educational, and no prior knowledge of economics is required! Duration: 1 to 3 hours. All experiments have been approved by the Human Studies Program. To participate, register at: https://manoa.hawaii.edu/econexp/. Become a Rainbow Warrior (NRW) Peer Leader!

New Student Orientation and Ānuenue Connection Program is recruiting UHMazing students to serve as New Rainbow Warrior (NRW) Peer Leaders! NRW Peer Leaders will: serve as a point-of-connection to new incoming UH Mānoa students (first-year and transfer); facilitate small/large group interactions, develop workshops and coordinate events; develop skills in areas such as leadership, mentorship, event planning and communication; Have the opportunity to network and connect with on-campus offices and resources; Receive a stipend pay (distributed throughout commitment term) Term of commitment is from Summer 2023 to May 2024. Entering Research & Creative Work (ERC) Funding for Undergraduate Students ($1,500–$3,000)

The Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP) coordinates and promotes research and creative work opportunities for UH Mānoa undergraduate students in all disciplines. ERC funding is intended for students early in their academic careers, with little to no research or creative work experience, to get introduced to and explore research and creative work with a faculty mentor. UROP provides up to $1500 per semester and up to $3000 for two consecutive semesters. The Spring 2023 application deadline is 5:00 PM, April 20th. L. Stephen Lau Water Research Endowed Scholarship

The Fall 2023 L. Stephen Lau Water Research Endowed Scholarship provides financial assistance for educational or research expenses related to furthering knowledge of Hawaiʻi’s natural waters. Institute on the Environment (IonE) Postdoctoral Fellowship Program

The IonE Postdoctoral Fellowship program at the University of Minnesota’s aims to accelerate the transition to a future where people and the planet prosper by supporting breakthrough research across disciplines, developing the next generation of global leaders, and building transformative partnerships across the state, region and globe. Appointment is for two years, salaries range between $60,000–$68,500 and includes other benefits. Please review eligibility criteria. The deadline to apply is May 1st.

East-West Center (EWC) Student Affiliate Program

The Student Affiliate Program provides an opportunity for UH Mānoa graduate students to engage and live with EWC fellows and scholars in a global community. Benefits include discounted housing on-campus, funding for travel/fieldwork, professional & leadership development opportunities, and more. Applicants must have research interests related to the Asia Pacific region. The application deadline for Fall 2023 is May 15, 2023. Residences for Innovative Student Entrepreneurs

The new student housing facility, across the street from the UH Mānoa campus, is accepting leasing applications for Fall 2023. Open to ALL MAJORS, RISE presents a new way for makers and doers to connect, collaborate, and innovate within an integrated living/learning community. Student residents will enjoy not only a brand-new housing community, but proximity to the wealth of programs offered by PACE that will be centered in the classroom, recording studio, makerspaces, meeting rooms, co-working spaces on the floors right below. Presentation Funding for Undergraduate Students ($2000–$5000)

The Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP) coordinates and promotes research and creative work opportunities for UH Mānoa undergraduate students in all disciplines. UROP invites students who are conducting or have conducted faculty-mentored research or creative work to submit a proposal for Presentation Funding, which provides funds to present their project or work at a local, national, or international conference/event, either in-person or virtually. UROP strongly encourages interested students to apply three months prior to the event.
