Subject: 2025 University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa Presidential Awards for Outstanding Service

The nomination period for the Mānoa Presidential Awards for Outstanding Service has opened. These awards recognize sustained and exceptional leadership of employees and their service to their offices, their departments and the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa (UHM). Our staff and specialist faculty are an integral part of our university, and nominations and awards provide an opportunity to recognize the accomplishments and contributions of your team members. As such, I encourage you and your administrative teams, faculty and staff to submit a nomination for one of our many outstanding Civil Service, Buildings and Grounds Maintenance, Administrative, Professional and Technical (APT) and/or Faculty Specialist employees who continue to serve our students and community and improve our campus academic, research, student and administrative endeavors.

One recipient for each category will be selected and receive a monetary gift of $1,000 and a certificate of recognition. Recipients will be honored at a special in-person ceremony at the end of the 2024–2025 academic year. The award information, eligibility, and criteria are posted on the UH Mānoa awards website at Eligibility Requirements.

The 2024 recipients were: Cora Chik, janitor, Campus Operations for Building and Grounds Maintenance award; Dana Singer, secretary, urban and regional planning department, College of Social Sciences, for the Civil Service award; Matthew Lam, educational specialist, chemistry department, College of Natural Sciences; Nalani Minton, assistant specialist and director of IKE AO PONO, School of Nursing and Dental Hygiene.

The deadline for submitting nominations is Friday, February 28, 2025. Nominations may be sent to the awards committee via: https://go.hawaii.edu/kRT
