Collecting, organizing, and standardizing data is like digging up a gold mine on a remote island. Although IR can collect as much gold as they want, it can easily go to waste if there’s not an efficient means of delivering the information. In this symposium, MIRO will share the strategies they have used to communicate data effectively with different audiences, the user experience principles behind such strategies, and how those efforts help to advance MIRO’s office mission. We are also honored to have the Co-Director of Hawai’i Data Science Institute, Jason Leigh, as our guest speaker and share the advancing ideas and technology in data science.

Honored Guest

Dr. Jason Leigh is the Co-Director of the Hawai’i Data Science Institute; Director of LAVA: the Laboratory for Advanced Visualization & Applications; and Professor of Information & Computer Sciences at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa. His research has received substantial interest from press and news media, including the AP News, New York Times, Popular Science’s Future Of, Nova ScienceNow, NSF Science Now, PBS, and Forbes.
