Student Work Positions

Native Forest Restoration Apprenticeships: Applications are now open for two part-time student positions, running from Spring 2025 through Fall 2026 (approximately two years). These positions offer a rare opportunity to gain hands-on experience in native forest restoration at the U.H. Arboretum and Research Unit while pursuing your education. Although the jobs are in different departments, there may be some overlap between the departments to complete the assigned tasks.

Available positions:

  • Greenhouse Assistant: Experience gained in native seed collection, propagation, & potting in a greenhouse
  • Grounds and Collections Assistant: Involved in maintaining grounds and managing plant collections – invasive species removal, site preparation, planting, and monitoring.

Details:

  • Pay: $17.55/hour
  • Schedule: Monday through Friday, 15–20 hours per week during the semester, with the potential to work up to 40 hours per week during summer and winter breaks.
