Mānoa Opportunities

Hertz Fellowship for STEM PhD

Apply if you’re a promising PhD STEM student working to solve major, near-term problems facing society. Potential five-year funding up to $250,000 & other benefits. Deadline: November 1.

Humanities & Social Sciences Fellowships

American Council of Learned Societies supports doctoral students in Humanities/related Social Sciences. Dissertation Fellowships and travel grants range between $5000 to $50,000. Deadlines are October 30 to December 3.

Nordic Research Fellowship

The American-Scandinavian Foundation funds graduate student research for up to a year and upwards of $23,000 within the Nordic region. Preference for dissertation research. Apply by November 1, 2024.

Are you a UH Mānoa student interested in doing research/creative work but don’t have a mentor? UROP invites UH Mānoa students to create a ForagerOne profile to network with potential mentors. Attend an information session to learn more!

Entering Research and Creative Work (ERC) Funding for Undergraduate Students ($1,500–$3,000)

UROP invites UH Mānoa students with little to no research/creative work experience to submit an application with a mentor to explore research works and be paid. Attend an information session to learn more!

Project Funding for Undergraduate Students ($5,000–$10,000)

UROP invites UH Mānoa students planning to conduct mentored research/creative work to submit a proposal and request funding for materials, travel, stipend, etc. Attend an information session to learn more!

Presentation Funding for Undergraduate Students ($2,000–$5,000)

UROP invites UH Mānoa students interested in sharing their mentored research/creative work to submit a proposal and request funding for travel, stipend, etc. Attend an information session to learn more!

Identifying and Applying to Graduate Schools

UROP staff will discuss basic considerations when thinking about graduate school, including the benefits and tradeoffs of entering a grad program, what makes successful applications, and more. Registration is required.

Responsible Conduct of Research Module

UROP is hosting a professional development module to introduce UH Mānoa students to responsible conduct of research (RCR). We will cover topics including what RCR is and its importance in all disciplines. Registration is required.

Resume Work

In this module, students will learn how to describe responsibilities and accomplishments, both academic and professional, as well as receive advice about formatting and presentation. Registration is required.

Best Practices for Oral Poster and Presentation

UROP and Honors Program staff will introduce students to oral and poster presentations. The discussion will cover how to design and format slides and posters, and more. Registration is required.
