Mānoa Opportunities
2024-25 Killam-funded Canada student exchange program
Applications are now open for the 2024–25 Killam Fellowships Program and due by 12/1/23. Come and learn more about the program and meet former Killam Exchange students on Thursday 11/16, 2–3pm at the ACCESS Lounge, Dean Hall 6. The Killam Fellowships Program supports exceptional undergraduate American students for one semester or a full academic year studying at a university in Canada either as a Direct Exchange Student or a Self-placed Visiting Student. The Killam Fellowships Program provides a cash award ($6,000 USD per semester) and includes orientation in Ottawa, a spring seminar in Washington, an allowance to offset the cost of health insurance, and other benefits. Summer 2024 INDOPACOM Internships
Apply by November 17th, 2023, for one of 17 available Summer 2024 internships: Engage with the INDOPACOM command and multiple US agencies and foreign governments on policy, strategy, defense, and security. Qualifications vary. INDOPACOM internships are unpaid. To apply: Submit resume and letter of interest that details your areas of interest focused on the Indo-Asia-Pacific region, positions of interest, and past experience. Submit these materials to J59 Program Coordinator Mr. Kaniela Hughes along with any questions about the internships. For one (1) UH Mānoa student the internships will be supported by a stipend, Direct questions about earning UH Mānoa credit for the internships to intern@hawaii.edu.
Intelligence Mentoring Internship Spring 2024
Open for applications until Nov. 29 2023. If you are considering a career with the US Intelligence Community, take advantage of this unique, competitive opportunity offered by UH Mānoa in partnership with the United States Indo-Pacific Command. The internship includes dedicated mentoring with Intelligence professionals, virtual seminars with guest speakers from multiple agencies, exposure to intelligence research, a head start in the competitive application process to work in intelligence, and more. U.S. Army Center Military History Dissertation Fellowships
$10,000 to qualified graduate students to produce dissertations on military history. Fellows receive access to Center facilities & technical expertise. Applications due January 15th.
Department of Energy Computational Science Graduate Fellowship (CSGF)
Open to doctoral students applying high-performance computing to solve science/engineering problems or researching emerging high-performance systems. Tuition coverage, insurance, $45k stipend, and more provided, 4-year renewability. Deadline: January 17th.

Are you a student interested in doing research/creative work but don’t have a faculty mentor? UROP invites students to create a ForagerOne profile to network with potential research/creative work faculty mentors. Attend a ForagerOne information session to learn more!
Entering Research and Creative Work (ERC) Funding for Undergraduate Students ($1,500–$3,000)
UROP invites students with little to no research/creative work experience to submit a simple application (no proposal required!) with a faculty mentor to receive a stipend and explore what doing research/creative work is like. Fall/Spring application cycles available. Attend an ERC funding information session to learn more!
Project Funding for Undergraduate Students ($5,000–$10,000)
UROP invites students planning to conduct faculty-mentored research/creative work to submit a proposal and request funding for materials, travel, stipend, etc. Fall/Spring application cycles available. Attend a project funding information session to learn more!
Presentation Funding for Undergraduate Students ($2,000–$5,000)
UROP invites students interested in presenting their research/creative work at a local, national, or international conference/event to submit a proposal and request funding for travel, stipend, etc. UROP encourages applying 3 months prior to the presentation date.
