AAUW Honolulu Graduate Academic Scholarships

The American Association of University Women Honolulu’s founding principle was to promote “the higher ideals of education among women”. In support of that mandate, AAUW Honolulu offered over $52,000 in scholarships to deserving women students in higher education for the 2022–2023 academic year. Applications are open for the 2023–2024 school year through February 15, 2023.

EXTENDED DEADLINE for FLAS – East Asia & Pacific Islands

U.S. citizen or resident alien full-time graduate and undergraduate students studying an eligible East Asian or Pacific Islands language with area studies in any degree program may apply for the 2023-2024 FLAS Fellowship. Fellowship package includes a stipend of $20,000 for graduate students; $5,000 for undergraduate students; and tuition assistance. Summer 2023 fellowships for East Asian languages are also available. For details, visit the UH STAR scholarship website and search for “FLAS”. Deadline to apply is now February 15, 2023.

Knauss Marine Policy Fellowship

The Knauss Fellowship supports graduate students interested in ocean, coastal and Great Lakes resources and related national policy decisions. Fellows are matched with hosts in legislative and executive branches of government for a one-year fellowship ($68,000 stipend) in D.C. beginning February 1, 2024. Students from natural science, social science, and law graduate and professional programs are encouraged to apply. Deadline is February 16, 2023.

Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF)

The Pacific Islands Climate Adaptation Science Center (PI-CASC) is welcoming applications for its 2023 Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF). The program is designed to provide interested undergraduates the opportunity to gain valuable research experience and climate science knowledge by completing 10-weeks of research on a climate project with a university faculty mentor at UH Mānoa, UH Hilo, or the University of Guam. Supported by a $6000 stipend, the student will also attend two professional development workshops and present their work at a final symposium. Become an ACE Peer Mentor – Juniors and Senior

The Access to College Excellence (ACE) Team is currently recruiting Fall 2023 ACE Peer Mentors, who will serve as role models to first-year students transitioning to UH Mānoa. ACE Peer Mentors are expected to lead two 50-minute classes (UNIV 110) per week with about 15 students in each section. Peer mentors will also be required to register for UNIV 301. In this course, you will design lesson plans and learn important leadership strategies to guide you through the semester. Not only will you gain valuable leadership experience and create lasting relationships, but you will also earn 4 credits (UNIV 301), an upper-division writing intensive (WI), and oral communication (O) designations. Moreover, selected students will be hired as an A5 in SECE, earning $20.50/hr as the ACE peer mentor position is paid. Applications will be accepted until 5 PM on Friday, February 24th, 2023. Priority is given to early applicants. Interviews will be offered on a rolling basis. Project Funding for Undergraduate Students ($5,000–$10,000)

The Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP) coordinates and promotes research and creative work opportunities for UH Mānoa undergraduate students in all disciplines. UROP invites students conducting or planning to conduct faculty-mentored research or creative work to submit a proposal for Project Funding, which provides funds to cover materials, supplies, travel, hourly stipend, and other project-related costs. Entering Research & Creative Work (ERC) Funding for Undergraduate Students ($1,500-$3,000)

The Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP) coordinates and promotes research and creative work opportunities for UH Mānoa undergraduate students in all disciplines. ERC funding is intended for students early in their academic careers, with little to no research or creative work experience, to get introduced to and explore research and creative work with a faculty mentor. UROP provides up to $1500 per semester and up to $3000 for two consecutive semesters. The Spring 2023 application deadline is 5:00 PM, April 20th. Presentation Funding for Undergraduate Students ($2000-$5000)

The Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP) coordinates and promotes research and creative work opportunities for UH Mānoa undergraduate students in all disciplines. UROP invites students who are conducting or have conducted faculty-mentored research or creative work to submit a proposal for Presentation Funding, which provides funds to present their project or work at a local, national, or international conference/event, either in-person or virtually. UROP strongly encourages interested students to apply three months prior to the event.
