Student social media submissions welcomed for Digital Inclusion Week 2022
The University of Hawaiʻi Hawaiʻi/Pacific Basin Area Health Education Center and the Pacific Basin Telehealth Resource Center (PBTRC) are co-sponsoring a Student Social Media Content Challenge as part of Digital Inclusion Week. Students of all ages are welcomed to submit their best social media post (image or video) sharing what digital inclusion means to them. Challenge winners will receive a Starbucks gift card and their post will be shared on social media statewide. The deadline for submissions is October 7, 2022 at 12 a.m. HST. The post should culminate topics including telehealth, education, literacy and workforce. Enter to win on the PBTRC website at www.pbtrc.org. Register Now for Water Resilience in Hawaiʻi, A UH Innovation Conference
Water has always been our most precious resource and recent events have highlighted how fragile this lifeline can be. Sponsored by the UH Office of the Vice President for Research and Innovation, Water Resilience in Hawaiʻi creates an opportunity for further collaboration between UH and its industry and community partners to engage in meaningful partnership to solve these challenges, while promoting economic stability and viability in Hawaiʻi. Recruiting Student Participants for Economic Experiments
Researchers study economic decision-making in a computer lab on campus or online. Earn money just for showing up on time, then earn more based on your decisions during the experiment! Participants make individual or group choices, which determine their payoffs. These experiments are fun and educational, and no prior knowledge of economics is required! Duration: 1 to 3 hours. All experiments have been approved by the Human Studies Program. To participate, register at: https://manoa.hawaii.edu/econexp/. Asian Development Bank – Japan Scholarship
The East-West Center, through the Asian Development Bank and Government of Japan, provides funding for graduate students with a commitment to the Asia Pacific regional development to pursue a Master’s degree (in approved fields of study) at UH Mānoa and to participate in the Center’s residential, educational and leadership development programs. Applicants must be a citizen of a developing member country of the Asian Development Bank (ADB). Visit the website for a list of eligible countries. East-West Center Student Affiliate Program
UH Mānoa graduate students have the unique opportunity to participate in the East-West Center’s Student Affiliate Program. This is a residential, educational, leadership development, and cultural program open to full-time students. Students from all countries who have a demonstrated commitment to the Asia Pacific region are eligible. Deadline to apply for the spring semester is November 1, 2022. Obuchi Student Scholarship
The Obuchi Student Scholarship is offered through a joint partnership of the East-West Center and the Okinawa Prefectural Government to fund UH Mānoa graduate students committed to Okinawan development and the broader Asia Pacific region. Applicants must be a permanent resident of Okinawa. Deadline to apply is December 1, 2022 for the 2022-2023 academic year. Frances Davis Teaching Assistant Award Nominations Open
The Frances Davis Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching for a Graduate Assistant recognizes excellence in undergraduate teaching by a TA at UH Mānoa who demonstrates exemplary instructional activities. TAs with a teaching assignment within the previous two academic years are eligible to be nominated. Consider nominating a TA to show your appreciation and have them recognized. Nominations are due by December 1, 2022.
Peter V. Garrod Graduate Mentoring Award Nominations Open
Graduate Division and the Graduate Council invite nominations for the Peter V. Garrod Distinguished Graduate Mentoring Award, recognizing one faculty member who demonstrates an outstanding career of mentoring graduate students at UH Mānoa. A nomination from both a student and a faculty member must be submitted in order for a nominee to be considered. Nominations are due by December 1, 2022.

New Entering Research & Creative Work (ERC) Funding for Undergraduate Students ($1,500-$3,000)
UROP coordinates and promotes research and creative work opportunities for UHM undergraduate students in all disciplines. UROP invites students who are conducting or have conducted faculty-mentored research or creative work to submit a proposal for Presentation Funding, which provides funds to present their project or perform at a local, national, or international conference/event, in-person or virtually. UROP strongly encourages interested students to apply three months prior to the event. Register to attend information sessions! Learn about other opportunities offered by UROP!
