The Pacific Asian Center for Entrepreneurship, in partnership with the College of Engineering and the School of Law, is hosting the 2022 UH Breakthrough Innovation Challenge. Students who enter this entrepreneurial competition will describe their idea in a 2-minute video entry. Qualifying finalists will receive business coaching, and present their idea to a live audience for the chance to win up to $1,000. The Office of Innovation and Commercialization (OIC) is recruiting UH-affiliated technology startup companies for its HITIDE (Hawaiʻi Technology Innovation Ecosystem) Fall ’22 cohort. Companies will receive up to $50K in seed funding as well as customized education, resources, mentoring and other opportunities to advance their science-based, impact-driven technologies. The Crown Prince Akihito Scholarship Foundation is accepting 2023–2024 applications. The award is for 1–2 years of study in Japan, $30,000 scholarship, plus $15,000 annual allowance which will cover tuition and one-time roundtrip from Honolulu to Japan. The East-West Center invites graduate students and young professionals from all fields to submit abstracts for the 22nd annual International Graduate Student Conference. The February 2023 conference, Recovery and Resilience in a Changing World, will focus on broadening the understanding and analysis of challenges pertaining to the Asia-Pacific region. Submission deadline for abstracts and a non-technical summary for presentations or poster talks is September 30, 2022.

East-West Center (EWC) scholarships, fellowships and affiliate programs provide funding and affordable housing for UH Mānoa graduate students from over 40 countries, Hawaiʻi, and across the U.S. EWC Education Programs are designed to foster a shared sense of community and develop the leadership skills and Asia Pacific regional literacy needed for cooperation and community building among nations.
