Mānoa Opportunities

NOAA National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) – Sea Grant Joint Fellowship

Designed to fulfill workforce development needs NMFS identifies. PhD students complete research-based fellowships for up to 3 years ($62,500/year). Must meet with Hawaiʻi Sea Grant to apply. Deadline: January 25.

CITRUS Undergraduate Summer Program

The CITRUS (CyberInfrastructure TRaining for Undergraduates in Summer) program will provide a one-month research experience for undergraduates REU-style immersion combining development of key skills and abilities in CI with a climate-focused research project applying CI skills. Apply by February 29, 2024.

Science Research Grants

Sigma Xi, the Scientific Research Honor Society, offers small research grants to graduate and undergraduate students. No membership required. Apply by March 15th for the Spring cycle.

Hawaiʻi Data Science Institute – Cyberinfrastructure Graduate Assistant Position

Are you a UH Mānoa student interested in doing research/creative work but don’t have a mentor? UROP invites UH Mānoa students to create a ForagerOne profile to network with potential research/creative work mentors. Attend an information session to learn more!

Presentation Funding for Undergraduate Students ($2,000–$5,000)

UROP invites UH Mānoa students interested in sharing their mentored research/creative work at a local, national, or international conference/event to submit a proposal and request funding for travel, stipend, etc. UROP encourages applying 3 months prior to the presentation date. Attend an information session to learn more!

UROP Hybrid Information Sessions

UROP invites UH Mānoa students, faculty, and staff to learn about all of our funding opportunities and resources! We will have 3 different sessions, including a general overview and workshops on how to submit a successful application. Registration is required.

Kickstarting and Managing Research and Creative Work Module

UROP is hosting a professional development module to help UH Mānoa students start exploring research/ or creative work. We will cover topics such as how to find and work effectively with a mentor, effective time management, library resources, and more! Registration is required.

Responsible Conduct of Research Module

UROP is hosting a professional development module to introduce UH Mānoa students to responsible conduct of research (RCR)—a standard practice for all research/creative work. We will cover topics including what RCR is and its importance in all disciplines, followed by real-life case studies. Registration is required.
