Activities for youth impacted by Maui wildfire

The volunteers, leaders, members, and faculty of the Maui County 4-H program greatly appreciate the extremely generous donations from the Creeks 4-H club. Youth members from the clubs voted to donate proceeds from their fundraising projects to support the youth displaced by the wildfire disasters on Maui in August 2023. Fishing in oama tournament

Sara Stupplebeen, Reporter – So far, the 4-H Wolves have participated in four activities. First on October 5th, we took part in an oama fishing tournament and had so much fun at Kanaha Beach. Second we held our first meeting and also had a guest speaker, Skylar Decker, who talked to us about fishing and a craft called Gyotaku, which is printing images of fish with ink which we later did. Operation Christmas Shoebox

11/2023 Operation Christmas Shoebox Project 12

Members from several 4-H clubs and other youth groups met on November 7, 2023 to pack Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes & 100 keiki bags with toys, toiletries, & school supplies for youth impacted by the wildfires in Lahaina in August. The Maui group packed 1,868 boxes! Their efforts were combined with groups from other locations around the state. Hawaii’s contribution of 44,866 Operation Christmas shoeboxes will be heading to Mongolia, Philippines, Thailand, Ukraine, El Salvador, Madagascar, and Uruguay.
