A new state law, Act 200 of the 2016 Hawaiʻi Session Laws, requires the annual registration and safety inspection of mopeds beginning January 1, 2017. As a state university, UH Commuter Services requires compliance with this law. Mopeds purchased after January 1, 2017 should already be in compliance with this new law. Mopeds purchased before this date will also need to comply with the law in order to operate on the UH Mānoa campus. Commuter Services will require annual moped registration for mopeds to facilitate permit sales.
