Every UROP ERC funding recipient must fulfill the following UROP ERC completion requirements:
- UROP Student Highlight Slide
- ERC Completion Report
- Attend the Undergraduate Showcase or the Summer Undergraduate Research Experience (SURE) Symposium
- ERC Post-Attendance Survey after attending
- ERC Mentor Evaluation Survey (to be completed by your mentor)
Thoroughly review the details of each requirement in the tabs below prior to submitting any completion requirements.
All completion requirements, except for attending the Undergraduate Showcase or the SURE Symposium, are due by the following dates in your completion semester. The deadlines are subject to change depending on the academic calendar and the date of the Undergraduate Showcase/SURE Symposium.
- Fall: December 10th at 12 p.m.
- Spring: May 11th at 12 p.m.
- Summer: August 10th at 12 p.m.
Failure to complete all requirements by the deadline may result in a reversal of your UROP ERC funding.
As part of your completion requirements, you must create a Student Highlight Slide using the template provided by UROP and add it directly to the UROP Student Highlight Slide deck.

Your submission must be polished, professional, and ready for public presentation. Please follow the formatting and content guidelines provided within the slide deck.
The Student Highlight Slide showcases your accomplishments, documents the impact of your work, and allows UROP to showcase student scholarship to a broader audience. It also provides an opportunity to clearly and professionally communicate your research or creative work while creating a lasting record of your experience. Slides may be used for program showcases, websites, social media, or other promotional materials.

The ERC Completion Report is a fillable online form. This is an opportunity for you to reflect on your ERC experience and potentially plan for the next step in your research or creative work endeavor. You will also be asked to evaluate UROP, and your candid feedback is sought to help improve our office and programs.
Each year, UROP offers multiple on-campus conference venues for students to attend or share their mentored research or creative work with UHM students, faculty, and community members:
- Undergraduate Showcase
- Fall: late-November/early-December
- Spring: late-April/early-May
- Summer Undergraduate Research Experience (SURE) Symposium
- Summer: late-July/early-August
The venues are open to all UHM undergraduate students to attend or present their mentored research or creative work. UROP-funded students are more than welcome to attend/present as many times as they would like to gain academic presentation experience.
For the purpose of completing the UROP ERC attendance requirement, all ERC funding recipients must:
- Attend an Undergraduate Showcase or a SURE Symposium event held at some during their funding period.
- Complete the ERC Post-Attendance Survey after attending.

The ERC Mentor Evaluation Survey is a fillable online form. Please ask your mentor at least 2 weeks prior to the deadline to complete the ERC Mentor Evaluation Survey on your behalf. Be sure to send your mentor the link and the ERC ID as your mentor will need it to complete the survey.
