Botany in Action (BIA) Fellowship at Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens

BIA Fellowships support ∑ students conducting plant-based research and are committed to educational outreach. Fellows receive $6,000 for research and paid science outreach training at Phipps. Deadline: January 5th.

Calling all Southeast Asian Language Study Students

Foreign Language and Area Studies awards offered for academic year or summer study of Thai, Vietnamese, Indonesian, Khmer, or Tagalog. Award includes stipend and tuition assistance. Apply by January 31st.

Fellowships & Scholarship for Japanese Studies Focus

The Center for Japanese Studies supports graduate and undergraduate students in any program with funds between $1,000 to $15,000. Search STAR scholarship for “Center for Japanese Studies”. Deadline: February 1st.

Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) Fellowships – East Asia & Pacific Islands

Open to students studying specified languages with area studies. 2024–2025 Graduate student stipend: $20,000; Undergraduate: $5,000; tuition assistance included. Summer 2024 East Asian language fellowships available. Search STAR scholarship, keyword “FLAS”. Deadline: February 1.

Porter Physiology Development Fellowship

Full-time PhDs studying physiological sciences can apply for a $28,300 annual stipend with the American Physiological Society and receive support for professional development activities. Apply by January 15th.

White House Fellows Program

Fellows typically spend a year as a full-time, paid assistant to senior White House Staff, receive benefits, and participate in the fellowship’s education program. Apply by January 5th.

Recruiting Student Participants for Economic Experiments

Researchers study economic decision-making in a computer lab on campus or online. Earn money just for showing up on time, then earn more based on your decisions during the experiment! These experiments are fun and educational, and no prior knowledge of economics is required! Duration: 1 to 3 hours. Register to participate. For more information, see this UH News story.

UH Institute for Astronomy invites applications for Summer 2024 Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) program

Apply for the UH IfA REU Program 2024 by January 31. Gain hands-on experience, explore astrophysics, and receive a $700 weekly stipend, plus support for room, board, travel, and conferences. Program: June 3 – August 9. Apply for the IfA REU Program 2024.

ForagerOne for Undergraduate Students

Are you a student interested in doing research/creative work but don’t have a faculty mentor? UROP invites students to create a ForagerOne profile to network with potential research/creative work faculty mentors. Attend a ForagerOne information session to learn more!

Entering Research and Creative Work (ERC) Funding for Undergraduate Students ($1,500–$3,000)

UROP invites students with little to no research/creative work experience to submit a simple application (no proposal required!) with a faculty mentor to receive a stipend and explore what doing research/creative work is like. Fall/Spring application cycles available. Attend an ERC information session to learn more!

Project Funding for Undergraduate Students ($5,000–$10,000)

UROP invites students planning to conduct faculty-mentored research/creative work to submit a proposal and request funding for materials, travel, stipend, etc. Fall/Spring application cycles available. Attend a project funding information session to learn more!

Presentation Funding for Undergraduate Students ($2,000–$5,000)

UROP invites students interested in presenting their research/creative work at a local, national, or international conference/event to submit a proposal and request funding for travel, stipend, etc. UROP encourages applying 3 months prior to the presentation date. Attend a presentation funding information session to learn more!
