With support from the Tyler Center for Global Studies, UROP is excited to announce UH Mānoa Tyler Fellowships, a funding opportunity for UH Mānoa undergraduate students who successfully propose to conduct a mentored research or creative work project abroad in Summer 2025.

Interested students must follow all guidelines on the Project Funding About page and submit a: (i) Project Funding Application; (ii) Project Pre-Survey; and (iii) Tyler Fellowship Application.

Eligibility:

  • U.S. Citizen, permanent resident, or international student enrolled full-time at UH Mānoa
  • Individual projects only (no group projects)
  • Conduct their research/creative work abroad in Summer 2025
  • Want to embody or expand their global perspective
  • Demonstrate a high level of dedication to their field of study
  • Perform significant research or creative work in their discipline which is furthered or enabled by this study abroad experience (e.g., by gaining access to primary sources and materials)
  • Have a demonstrable financial need

Funding Requirements for Successful Applicants:

  • Both the applicant and their mentor must attend the pre-travel cross-cultural training (up to 12 hours) and the mentor must attend the risk management training (up to 1.5 hours) with the Study Abroad Center. The content and the length will depend on the project and the project location, and will take place in late-April to May.
  • Be profiled on websites and other promotional outlets of UROP, Study Abroad Center, and/or University of Hawai‘i Foundation)
  • Agree to all conditions of award set forth by the Tyler Center (click here for a full list)
