The Provost is the chief academic officer for the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa and reports to the UH President. The Provost is responsible for ensuring the effective and efficient use of resources, and the accomplishment of the university’s mission, across all aspects of education, research, student success, enrollment management, service, extension and  outreach. Reporting to the Provost are the Vice Provost for Academic Excellence, Vice Provost for Enrollment Management, Vice Provost for Research & Scholarship, Vice Provost for Student Success, academic deans, organized research unit directors, Office of Global Engagement, Mānoa CARES (Campus Awareness, Response, Education, and Solutions), MIRO (Mānoa Institutional Research Office), UH Press, and Library Services.

The Office of the Vice Provost for Academic Excellence oversees planning, developing, organizing, directing and evaluating academic programs, policies, procedures and guidelines. In addition, the office develops and oversees faculty promotion and tenure processes.

The Office of the Vice Provost for Enrollment Management oversees the planning, direction, coordination and management of enrollment services and initiatives for the UH Mānoa.

The Office of the Vice Provost for Research and Scholarship oversees most organized research units on campus. The vice provost serves as the campus representative for research with individuals, groups and agencies working to enhance UH Mānoa’s research programs and capabilities.

The Office of the Vice Provost for Student Success is responsible for the direction and coordination of student services, including co-curricular activities, student housing, counseling and career guidance, student employment, and health services.
