5.318: Satisfactory Academic Progress Toward a Degree, Minimum UH Manoa Academic Standard, and Good Academic Standing

Once a student has completed two regular semesters at UH Manoa (i.e., fall and spring), he/she shall make satisfactory academic progress toward a degree by remaining in Good Academic Standing by maintaining a UH Manoa cumulative grade point average of 2.0 or higher.


5.319: Minimum Credit Requirements

Effective Fall 2012, students must complete a minimum of 120 credits and have a minimum of a C (not C-­‐) average (minimum GPA of 2.0) to earn a baccalaureate degree. Colleges, schools, and degree programs have specific requirements. Students should check with their college or school advisor.

In addition, students are required to complete a minimum of 45 upper division (300 and 400 level courses) credits.


5.320: Upper Division Credit Requirement

Policy Language

Effective Fall 2012, students must complete a minimum of 45 upper division credits to earn a baccalaureate degree. Upper division credits are defined as “300 and 400 level course credits.”

Note: The 45 upper division credit requirement for undergraduate majors has been modified for the School of Life Sciences and the Department of Chemistry. Students pursuing a baccalaureate degree in these units must complete either a minimum of 45 upper division credits, or a combination of no fewer than 25 upper division credits and 35 major-required lower division credits.”
