The Hawai’i State Department of Labor & Industrial Relations (DLIR) Workforce Development Division (WDD) administers Hele Imua, a paid internship program aavailable to the community. It is a 12-week internship opportunity for the State of Hawai’i.
The purpose of this program is to provide eligible candidates exposure to various high-demand occupations in state government that may transition into gainful employment within Hawaii’s labor market. Focus is on recent high school and college graduates who need work experience to meet position requirements.
The Institute for Astronomy (IfA) at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa (UHM) is offering research internships for the summer of 2026. Internships are funded through NASA and NSF grants to individual faculty members and the NSF REU program. The IfA REU program will provide undergraduates who are considering a career in science with the opportunity to work with astronomers at the IfA.
The 2026 REU will run for 10 weeks: June 6 through August 14. Students will receive a weekly stipend of $700 to cover meals, incidentals, and other costs. The cost of travel to and from Hawaiʻi, accommodation, and two meals per day, are provided for all students. Financial support is available for REU students to present their research at a professional conference

The Pi'iku Internship is a 12-week cross-functional internship. Interns help to create new features for digital platforms. The Pi'iku team matches emerging tech talent with experienced mentors to work on projects for exciting local companies. It is part time, paid work, allowing students to network with industry leaders.
