Advising Checklist
Every studentʻs timeline looks different, and thatʻs okay! This is a checklist of some of the things you should work towards to help you make the most of your time at UH Mānoa. We are here with you every step of the way.
- Get involved: Join a club, start a job, or find a community related to your interests
- Become familiar with online tools and important websites
- Set initial goals and priorities for your time in college, and create a plan to reach them
- Meet with your advisor to learn about helpful campus resources, be sure you are registered for the correct courses, and get started on the right foot at UHM
- Evaluate your first year progress
- Participate in co-curricular activities related to your career goal
- Work with your advisor to create a detailed plan for your remaining semesters at UHM
- Continue to build your network
- Be able to articulate what you are studying and why
- Discover how your interests and skills apply to the workforce
- Identify education and/or additional skills youʻll need to attain employment or training in your desired field of employment
- Research graduate/professional school options and start the application process
- Understand and be able to effectively translate your skills and knowledge for employers and graduate schools
- Continue to attend career fairs and conferences, and continue to utilize campus resources such as the Mānoa Career Center, PAC, etc.
- Maintain relationships with the UH Community after Graduation
