The Conservation Leadership Development Program (CLDP) is a paid program for early professionals (ages 17+) interested in pursuing a career in conservation. CLDP terms typically last from 6 months to 1 year, offering hands-on experience, professional development, and the opportunity to make a lasting impact in communities across Hawaii‘i and the Pacific.

Hawaii'i Land Trust

The Hawaii'i Land Trust is looking for volunteers to help with restoration and conservation projects, land stewardship, assist with events, complete office tasks, and collaborate on special projects. To see available opportunities, please email volunteer@hilt.org. 

Urban Garden Center at the University of Hawaii'i at Manoa

Urban Garden volunteers assist in planning, construction and maintenance of various gardens and dissemination of gardening information to the general public. Volunteers provide leadership to a garden hui or participate as a member of a garden hui, create educational experiences to meet UGC's mission, and serve as an ambassador in connecting UGC with community partners.

Hawaii'i Nature Center

Hawaii‘i Nature Center seeks to foster awareness, appreciation, understanding and stewardship of Hawaii‘i’s environment by educating children with an interactive and immersive approach. Volunteers support in various positions, including teaching docents, gardening and landscaping, facilities maintenance, and special projects. 

Kauhale Medical Scholars Program

The Native Hawaiian Center of Excellence’s Kauhale Medical Scholars Program is a seven-week summer program, from May 16, 2026 to July 2, 2026, created for pre-medical undergraduate students, with future interest in applying to medical school, specifically the John A. Burns School of Medicine.

Volunteer Opportunities from PAC

The Pre Health/Pre Law Center has compiled a list of volunteering opportunities for pre-med students. Volunteer can come in many different forms, either within clubs and organizations or at different locations such as hospitals or clinic.

Hawai'i HOME Project

The Hawai'i Houseless Outreach and Medical Education (HOME) Project asim to improve quality and access to health care for individuals in Hawaii experiencing houselessness, while increasing student and physician awareness and understanding of the houseless and their healthcare needs. This is a student-run free clinic staffed by volunteers. 

Hawaiian Humane Society

There are various volunteer positions open at the Hawaiian Humane Society. Please allow for approximately 6 weeks to complete this application process, which may include your in-person training with team members.

Hawaii Wildlife Center

O'ahu SPCA 

Make a difference for homeless dogs and cats! Volunteers are needed for a variety of positions, but our greatest needs are helping keep the shelter and kennels clean, socializing with our animals, and administrative tasks such as assembling adoption packets. 

Pre-Vet Club at UH Manoa

The Pre-Vet Club at UH Manoa advertises and connects students with various volunteer opportunities. 

American Institute of Chemical Engineers

AIChE is the world's leading organization for chemical engineering professionals. They offer volunteer positions including, student chapters, volunteers you mentor peers, organize outreach, or compete in student events; local sections, which plan local networking; committees, conferences, and more.

Piʻikū Internship

The Piʻikū Internship is a 12-week cross-functional internship. Interns help to create new features for digital platforms. The Pi'iku team matches emerging tech talent with experienced mentors to work on projects for exciting local companies. It is part time, paid work, allowing students to network with industry leaders. 

Code With Aloha

Code with Aloha is a civic-minded volunteers team, interested in using technology
and open data to make our local communities better. Their projects include Hawai'i Zoning atlas, Habitat for Humanity, and the Hawai'i Economic Recovery and Resilience Project.

ICS Groups and Labs

There are various groups and labs available at UH Manoa. Lab projects include security analytics, AI, LLMs, cloud computing, and more. 

UH Institute for Astronomy

Volunteers wuth UH IfA support IfA scientists and astronomy education. Volunteers assist with public lectures, programs for community organizations, and the annual IfA Open House.

Advancing Physics

Advancing Physics (APS) volunteers have the opportunity to communicate science to the public, advocate for research funding, or even shape the future of APS. There are varying levels of involvement--including looking for an occasional way to give back in your free time, building your CV, or even to becoming a leader in your APS unit.
