Program Admission Stop-out/Restart

If a degree program or certificate needs to stop-out, continue a stop-out, or end the stop-out of admissions, the appropriate request memo must be submitted to OVPAE. View detailed instructions and memo template.

Overview

Step 1: Unit consults with OVPAE

Dean/Chair consults with the Director of Program Development and Review in OVPAE to ensure that the process is understood and the memo is ready for submission.

Step 2: Dean Submits Memo

Dean submits the memo to OVPAE for review (email to acadpro@hawaii.edu). OVPAE will work with the program to facilitate the remainder of the process.

Step 3: OVPAE Reviews (including Graduate Division Review)

The Office of the Vice Provost for Academic Excellence will evaluate the proposal for content and format. For graduate programs, OVPAE will send the proposal to Graduate Division to manage the review process. Graduate Division will send back approved proposals to OVPAE for final review and approval.

Step 4: Provost Reviews and Approves

The Provost will evaluate the proposed action and determine if it fits within the institution’s goals and mission. The Provost is the authority to approve degree program and certificate stop-outs.
