At the College of Natural Sciences, discovery begins in one of the most dynamic natural laboratories on Earth. Grounded in Hawaiʻi’s unique environment, yet guided by a global perspective, our students and faculty explore the physical, biological, computational, and mathematical sciences to address today’s most pressing challenges. Through hands-on research, innovative teaching, and interdisciplinary collaboration, we prepare the next generation of scientists, educators, and leaders to make a meaningful impact in Hawaiʻi and beyond.

Our Mission

To prepare students to function in a world of rapid scientific and technological change.
To teach the meaning and role of scientific method and its importance to society.
To prepare students for significant positions in the increasingly technological societies of Hawaiʻi, the United States, the Pacific Rim or the nations of the world.
To ensure that students understand the meaning and importance of scientific ethics.
To create new knowledge in Mathematics, Information Science, the Physical Sciences and the Biological Sciences; to apply that knowledge for the betterment of people everywhere.
