- Okinawa
The Okinawa Collection is comprised of print, electronic resources (books and journals), and A/V materials to support historical and current Okinawa studies, especially humanities, social sciences, and performing arts. - Philippines
University of Hawaii’s extensive Philippine Collection has research and rare materials in various formats. Materials collected focus on the Philippines and Filipinos in the Social Sciences and Humanities. These are primarily in English. Visit Philippine Studies Research Guide.
- South Asia
The South Asia Collection is a multidisciplinary collection with a focus on humanities and social science materials relating to South Asia which include Afghanistan, Bhutan, Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. - Southeast Asia
The Southeast Asia Collection supports the interdisciplinary Asian Studies Program, and those disciplines and professional programs with a Southeast Asian focus. The Collection also provides recreational reading for its university clients and the community. Visit Southeast Asia Research Guide.
- China
The China Collection of the UHM Library is a research-level collection consisting of materials about China in Chinese, Western languages (mostly English), and other Asian languages in all formats. The Collection is particularly strong in history, Chinese language and literature, Chinese philosophy and religion, and Chinese art. - Japan
The Japan Collection offers a wide array of resources on humanities (literature, language & linguistics, history, anthropology, archaeology, religion, philosophy, art history, musicology), social sciences (sociology, political science, business & economics, geography, women’s studies, communication, library sciences), and performing arts in Japanese, English, and other languages. - Korea
The Korea Collection supports the Center for Korean Studies and Korea-related programs at UHM, one of the largest Korean Studies programs outside Korea. It has been developing collections in both South and North Korean history, language and literature, film, the arts, humanities, and social sciences etc. Visit Korea Collection.
- Asia General
The Asia General Collection offers cross-country & cross-disciplinary-resources focused on Asia regardless of languages and formats. The print resources are located on the 3rd & 4th floors in the Hamilton Library and back issues of pre-1980 periodicals are on the 2nd floor of the Sinclair Library. Visit Asia Collection Department.
