Spring 2025 Director’s Note
Aloha mai kākou! I hope that everyone is returning to Mānoa from the holiday break refreshed, and ready for the opportunities and challenges that await all of us in the Spring 2025 semester. In addition to welcoming all of you back to campus, UROP would like to take a moment to extend a warm welina mai to our new UH System President, Wendy Hensel, and an equally warm aloha and mahalo to our outgoing UH System President, David Lassner. While leadership provided by UH System and campus administrators is crucial to the future of all UH campuses, it is the totality of the individual and collective efforts and talents of our students, staff, faculty, and administrators that makes our campus and system great. UROP is excited to continue to provide a suite of services and programs to our campus that revolve around providing opportunities to undergraduate students to engage in mentored research and creative work outside of the classroom. The newest of the many exciting opportunities that UROP is able to provide to Mānoa is international research experiences via a new grant from the Typer Center for Gloval Studies, which will allow UH Mānoa undergraduate students to pursue research and creative work projects outside of the country during Summer 2025 (see here for more information). We will also continue to service our campus via our tried and true funding opportunities and programming, including Project funding, Entering Research and Creative Work funding, Presentation funding, Mentoring Grant funding, matchmaking via ForagerOne, the Summer Undergraduate Research Experience, and much more. See inside and check out our website for more information, or feel free to reach out to our office at any time.
