GUIDE is a mentoring program for Academic Advisors at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa. Centered on mentorship, GUIDE provides opportunities in various forms to nurture professional and personal advancement through Growth, Understanding, Insight, Development, and Experience. GUIDE offers a variety of opportunities to connect with the UHM advising community including one-on-one mentoring partnerships, professional development workshops, community service activities, a retreat, a walking group, and more.
Goals of the program are:
- To provide an opportunity for mentors and mentees to form mutually beneficial relationships with each other through mentoring, camaraderie, and support
- To facilitate academic advisor development through mentor/mentee partnerships
- To assist mentees in clarifying their academic, career, and personal goals
- To provide mentors with an opportunity to share their life and career experiences
- To create growth opportunities for both mentors and mentees
