Options in Health Professions
On April 12, 2018, fifty-two students from the Farrington High School Health Academy participated with representatives of different UHM programs in an Options in Health Professions presentation. Professional representatives included, Sheri Gon (Medical Technology), Lisa Kehl (Public Health and MSW alumni), Rachel Lindsey (Kinesiology and Rehabilitation Science), Amy Lower (Communication Sciences & Disorders), Jenee Odani (Pre-Veterinary Sciences), Carlyn Okatomi & Gary Glauberman (Nursing), Mari Ono (Social Work), and Erica (Pre-Health/Pre-Law Advising Center). Health Academy Advisors, Glenda Lau, Gwen Oshita, and Erin Kamikawa have been affiliated with the Farrington HS Health Academy for many years. Students participated in an interdisciplinary case study discussion, a “speed dating” exercise to explore different professions, and a “speed tour” of the UHM campus and services.
