The Maui Wailani Diamonds 4-H Club held their second meeting on September 23rd, 2017 at the CTAHR Extension Service Building on UH Maui Campus. The Diamonds reported and commented on Officer Training Class on August 27th at Maui Electric Building. The girls learned how to conduct and plan for a meeting. They also played a blindfold game, where they practiced team building and trust. The club is planning and organizing a 4-H county fashion review. 4-H Report by Mahina K. Atenza – The Maui Wailani Diamonds 4-H Club held their first meeting on August 20th 2017 at the CTAHR Extension Service Building on UH Maui Campus. The girls installed Kaile Watanabe as Club President. The Diamonds shared their favorite part from Tech Connect where they discussed STEM careers and enjoyed activities with Virtual Reality, Bloxels, and Ozobots. Virtual Reality, Bloxels, and Ozobots were the main activities at this year’s Maui County 4-H Tech Connect event with the Maui Economic Development Board, Inc. and Women in Technology! There was also a discussion and presentation on careers in STEM and the importance of increasing the number of women in STEM. Both an informative and fun event!

This year started off sweet with the 2017 Officer’s Training held at the Maui Electric Company on August 27, 2017. The theme was The Sweet Road to Success and the County Officers represented the various colored M&Ms with their attires. Enthusiastic 4-Hers attended this year’s Officer’s Training where they learned many valuable leadership skills they could incorporate not only into 4H, but into their daily lives as well.
