Meeting the Governor

The Maui Wailani Diamonds 4-H Club held their second meeting on September 23rd, 2017 at the CTAHR Extension Service Building on UH Maui Campus.

The Diamonds reported and commented on Officer Training Class on August 27th at Maui Electric Building. The girls learned how to conduct and plan for a meeting. They also played a blindfold game, where they practiced team building and trust.

The club is planning and organizing a 4-H county fashion review. Ally Vickers and her Mom Lei ordered their club uniforms. During the meeting Aunty Joyce taught the club basic sewing skills and she gave a review of all the sewing tools.The clubs Community Service officer, Carmen Stettler came up with a project to make hot sacks to pass out to the Pacific Cancer Center.

The girls shared a delicious snack of pizza, chips and dip ,brownies, and juice. Thank you to Refreshment Officer, Kate Anipot for providing paper goods.

On October 5th, the Diamonds hung out with Hawaii’s Governor, Ige thanks to Ginger and Maryanne Soares. They cheerfully marched in the Maui Fair Parade ,and bonded with each other during fun rides and enjoying ono food. Leader, Lorene Rodrigues won an award for most craft entries. Club members, Mia Suh, Randi Benjamin, ErinRose Salacup, Kailee Watanabe, Makayla Lagasca, Mahina Atenza, Carmen Stettler, Maryanne Soares, Maggie Martin, Kate Anipot and Alina Vickers earned either a purple, 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place ribbon. “Go Diamonds!”

On Oct 7th, Maggie Martin, Fundraiser Officer held a club fundraiser at Del’s Farm and Feed Store, and the girls helped raise over $270 for the 4-H organization.
