Renown shakuhachi player and composer Kojiro Umezaki of the Silk Road Ensemble and Hub New Music (called “contemporary chamber trailblazers” by the Boston Globe, consisting of flute, clarinet, violin, and cello) will be in residence at the University of Hawaii to work with the UH composition program. They will be presenting two concerts of music written for this unique pairing that builds dialogues between eastern and western musical traditions and celebrates the intercultural community.
This residency is co-sponsored by the East West Center and the UH Music Department.
