Anne Leilehua Lanzilotti is a multifaceted musician who plays, teaches, writes, and writes about contemporary music. A native of Hawai‘i, Lanzilotti is a co-founder and Artistic Consultant for Kalikolehua — El Sistema Hawai‘i, a free orchestra program for underserved youth. She is thrilled to be back in Honolulu sharing her music with the local community! As a composer, Lanzilotti has commissions this season from The Noguchi Museum and Periapsis Music & Dance (a new work with choreographer Wendell Gray II). To reach new audiences and share contemporary music, she has written for both academic publications such as Neue Zeitschrift für Musik, and Music & Literature, and program notes for the London Symphony Orchestra. Lanzilotti is the Assistant Professor of Viola at University of Northern Colorado School of Music where she also runs the Contemporary Music Ensemble and is Co-Director of Open Space Festival of New Music. This is Mike Truesdell’s second trip to Hawai‘i. He is so entranced by the beautiful scenery and welcoming culture here!  The last time he was here, he was teaching at Columbia University and Rutgers University in New York and New Jersey. Since then he started working with Dr. Lanzilotti at University of Northern Colorado. Today he is hoping to share some chamber and solo music including percussion. The skills he is using were refined during the 2010 TROMP International Percussion Competition, where he received 2nd prize, and a variety of performances around the US and the world. Percussion is such an inclusive family—welcome!  For more information about him, feel free to visit www.miketruesdell.com
