UH System Organization Charts

History of the System Organization Charts

The Legislature of the State of Hawaiʻi stipulated that the University of Hawaiʻi must prepare an organizational chart of the university annually. In order to satisfy this legislative requirement, in 1987 the University President assigned responsibility for creating and maintaining the annual organization charts to the Budget Office, a System-wide office then under the Vice President for Finance and Operations.

In 2007, Mr. Edmund Leong of the Budget Office informed the University Archives that the Budget Office planned to scan the collection for easier access. In 2008, the Budget Office completed the project and sent the original paper volumes to the University Archives. This first group was accessioned in October 2008 covering the years 1987-2007 and assigned the call number Manuscript A2008:024. Future paper accessions will be added to this same call number. Eventually, the records will be created and maintained digitally.

The arrangement of the materials is as they were received from the Budget Office. Usually the charts are divided into two general groupings: the UH System in one volume and UH Mānoa in another volume.
