“Tributes and Anniversaries”
The UH Wind Ensemble celebrates three twentieth-century composers and their works: Leonard Bernstein, on the centenary of his birth, with his Prelude, Fugue and Riffs; David Maslanka, a dear friend of the wind band, who died this past August; and the fifty-year anniversary of Karel Husa’s monumental and all-too-relevant work of resistance, Music for Prague 1968.
The UH Symphonic Band, Gabriel Arnold, conductor, will perform works by Fillmore, Wagner, Van Der Roost, Giroux, and Hazo.
Tickets available online: $12 general admission, $8 UH students/faculty/staff (ID required) & seniors (65+), $5 UHM music majors.
Remaining tickets at the door. (plus applicable fees for all purchases)
Music students: this concert is eligible for Mus 199 concert attendance credit.
