“To Grasp the Movement of the Sun”
A 50-minute whole new body of work inspired by Ackerley’s time in Svalbard, Norway this past summer for the Arctic Circle Residency. This work highlights empathy towards the Arctic’s ecosystems and animals amongst the extensive history of abuse of its resources, as well as exploring the narrative threads of the human sacrifices made for the means of others wealth.
Performing musicians include Clara Kim – violin, Alexey Logunov – piano, Gahlord Dewald – bass, Jay Jaskot – drum kit, Nikki Ikeda Cossi and Audrey Walters – vocals
