Anyone wanting to see how talented and continually active the faculty at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa are can look no further than Dr. Maya Hoover. This past summer and continuing throughout the fall semester, she had a jam-packed schedule.

Dr. Hoover’s stunning voice was heard all over the world, from New Jersey as the mezzo-soprano soloist in Fauré’s Requiem and the role of Mercédes in Carmen, to a solo recital with José Meléndez in the bustling city of New York, and even the Rocky Mountain foothills of Colorado where she performed as Suzuki in Madama Butterfly. In June and July, she represented Hawai‘i internationally by participating in a tour of Spain with the Voices of Aloha. Her year was rounded out with a performance of Handel’s Messiah right here in Hawai‘i with the Maui Chamber Orchestra.

If you missed out on witnessing Dr. Hoover in action during any of these performances, make sure to catch her in a future performance. Keep up with her recent and upcoming activities by going to her website.
