Paul Lyddon

Pianist Paul Lyddon attended the Eastman School of Music earning a Bachelor of Music With Distinction degree in 1954. Graduate study was done at the University of Illinois where he earned the degree Master of Music With Honors in Performance in 1955. His many teachers include Soulima Stravinsky, and the eminent Austrian pianist Alfred Brendel.

Since 1959, Mr. Lyddon has combined a teaching career with a concert career. His tours as a recitalist soloist with orchestra, member of chamber music ensembles and professional accompanist have taken him to all parts of the United States, Europe and Asia, performing in over 700 concerts. In recent years he has appeared with The Honolulu Symphony four times performing Mozart Concerti in G, K. 453 and A, K. 488, the Tchaikovsky Concerto No. 1 in B-flat minor, and the Rachmaninoff Concerto No. 3 in D minor. In 1969 Mr. Lyddon toured with the Denver Symphony, Vladimir Golschmann, conductor, performing the Rachmaninoff Concerto No. 2 in C minor, appearing as soloist on the last concert ever conducted by Maestro Golschmann. Since 1963 he and his wife Kaoru Tajima have been performing together giving two-piano and duet concerts here and in Europe.
