Donna Hyde Wyland

Donna Hyde Wyland is a trumpet performer and lesson teacher based in Honoulu, HI. Hyde Wyland earned her Bachelor’s in Music Education – Instrumental from Southwestern Oklahoma State University, and is pursuing her Master’s in Trumpet Performance at the University of Hawaii – Manoa. She was a finalist for the 2021 Kappa Kappa Psi National Solo Competition, and performed alone at a Change of Command ceremony for the USS North Carolina in 2022. She was an invited musician for Bethel College’s Masterworks concert, and has performed with the Oahu Choral Society as well. With her undergraduate trumpet studio, she was a member of a selected prelude ensemble for the International Trumpet Guild several times– opening up for Ole Edvard Antonsen in 2022. She has performed in masterclasses under Ryan Beach, Dr. Christopher Wilson, Allan Dean, and twice for the Oklahoma Trumpet Summit. Furthermore, she has attended masterclasses of Mary Bowden, Dr. Raquel Samayoa, Matilda Lloyd, Huw Morgan, and Gordon Goodwin. In 2018, Hyde Wyland traveled to New York as a member of the Honors Performance Series and performed under Kirt Mosier at Carnegie Hall. Her teachers include Dr. Richard Tirk and JoAnn Lamolino. As an educator,  Hyde Wyland takes great pride in her ability to give individualized feedback to her students. She has worked as a trumpet technician at various band camps in Oklahoma and Texas, and she continues to do so during the Summer months.
