Update: Fall 2020 Inbound Exchange Programs

As of today, April 8, 2020, the University of Hawaii at Manoa does not have any plans to cancel its Fall 2020 inbound exchange or visiting programs (this pertains to students from partner universities coming to study at UH Manoa in the Fall). Our office will continue to process applications as planned until further notice. Some important notes for applicants moving forward:

  • Upon admission applicants will be emailed a copy of their acceptance letter and the “next steps” guidelines. Please make sure to follow any instructions provided closely.
  • As long as courier services continue to function, hard copy acceptance letters and immigration documents will be sent via courier (i.e. DHL, FedEx, etc.). These documents will be sent to your home university exchange office unless circumstances require the documents to be sent directly to students. Partners and students should email us immediately if this is expected to be the case.
  • Our staff will be working remotely until April 30 at the earliest. This may cause some delays in our usual procedures. Your patience is much appreciated.

***It is also very important note that as of mid-March US embassies and consulates around the world have suspended their routine visa services until further notice.***

It has yet to be determined when these visa services will resume. Please check the websites of your local US embassy or consulate for more details regarding their current operating status: https://t.co/vIXaMPomVS?amp=1

In short, this means that US embassies and consulates, for the most part, will not be able to review any visa applications until further notice. Prior to the COVID-19 outbreak, visa processing generally takes between 3-5 business days after completion of one’s interview. We expect that this timeline may be delayed somewhat when routine visa services have resumed. Again, if you have any questions or concerns, we strongly advise that you contact your local US embassy or consulate for more information.

We are monitoring the situation closely and will provide updates to all students and partners the moment we are provided with further information. Your patience and understanding is much appreciated during these difficult times. Please stay safe and do not hesitate to reach out to us if you have any questions or concerns about your Fall 2020 exchange or visiting program. You can contact us at inbound@hawaii.edu.
